Alexandra Komara is a local entrepreneur born and raised in Satellite Beach, Florida. She grew up in the arts with a love for community. At the age of 19, Alexandra took a six year journey to Los Angeles where she fell in love with the process of film production. She worked professionally as an assistant director developing a strong work ethic and acquiring essential leadership and production skills that have since become a key part of her identity.
During this time in California, the adversity she faced shifted her understanding of reality. Seeing the world through a raw, new lense reshaped Alexandra's purpose. It caused her to explore a new dream different from what originally brought her there.
Upon returning back to the Space Coast in 2020, Alexandra had the idea to host a clothing swap to cultivate community in sustainability. She did this with some friends and artists who later became business partners and co-founders. from this first swap spurred more, each one growing in size. Key elements of these swaps included sustainability, creativity, and fundraising.
This cultural movement became known as Space Swap. A community leading A Repurposing Renaissance! Space swap is a registered nonprofit dedicated to stitching the community together through conscious fashion & the arts.
In January of 2023, Space Swap hosted its largest clothing swap to date with over 500 attendees. In April of 2023, Space Swap planted roots as a brick and mortar called space swap shop. our Shop became a safe space for activists, artists, fashion enthusiasts, and outcasts alike.
Space swap has since closed its storefront but continues to uplift local creatives and entrepreneurs through niche events. in june of 2024, Space swap produced a sustainable bikini fashion show, spreading public awareness of local, eco-conscious swimwear brands. in september of 2024, we celebrated our 3 year anniversary at sip & thrift with omg events.
