Alexandra Komara is a local entrepreneur born and raised in Satellite Beach, Florida. She grew up in the arts with a love for community. At the age of 19, Alexandra took a six year journey to Los Angeles where she fell in love with the process of film production. She worked professionally as an assistant director acquiring the leadership skills, work ethic, and production skills that later became a key part of her journey.
During this time in California, she witnessed and experienced struggle and adversity. Seeing the world through a raw and different lense re-shaped Alexandra's purpose. It caused her to explore a purpose and dream deeper than what originally brought her there.
Upon returning back to the Space Coast in 2020 during the Pandemic, Alexandra had the idea to host a clothing swap to cultivate community in sustainability. This clothing swap was held in September of 2021 at Pineapple Park in the Eau Gallie Arts District. She did this with some friends and artists who later became business partners and co-founders. The clothing swap happened again and again and continued to grow in size. Key elements of these swaps included sustainability, music, live painting, local art vendors, and fundraising for local non-profits.
This cultural movement became known as Space Swap. Space Swap is now a local non-profit that stitches our community together through sustainable fashion, music, and the arts. In January of 2023, at Space Swap's most recent event at Rockledge Gardens, over 500 people gathered. In April of 2023, Space Swap planted roots as a physical location in midtown Melbourne as Space Swap Shop. Space Swap Shop is a safe space for artists, musicians, activists, outcasts, and everyone who loves sustainability and fashion. A community that is leading A Repurposing Renaissance.
